2 episodes in and so far this season looks promising. Another solid episode that was so well paced, filled with so many shocking and thrilling moments to take in. So much was packed into this 45 minute episode and already in the second episode of the season.
The opening montage of Elliot working at E-corp with "New Sensation" playing in the background was engagingly brilliant. I liked his opening monologue on how he was evolving and his plan was never about destroying E-corp, but making it better all along. It features a strong character development moment for Elliot, but also at the same time, brought back some of the season one elements by bringing down corrupt CEOs through hacking, which was good to see again.
Elliot's loneliness came back, something that hasn't been brought up since the pilot. He goes to Krista his therapist for help, making it Krista's first appearance in season 3. I like the story Elliot told Krista about the snowman, Kevin McAlister that him and Darlene built when they were kids, that happened the same day that Elliot's father pushed him out the window. What shocked me about this scene, is that in the pilot Elliot told Krista that his father pushed out the window, but Krista doesn't recall Elliot ever telling her that, making it possible that could've been in Elliot's head.
The scene when Elliot transitions into Mr. Robot to Krista was breathtaking. Christian's Slater acting was amazing throughout the whole scene. What makes it even better was Krista's reaction after Mr. Robot transitioned back into Elliot. From that, it's possible that Krista might be playing a bigger role this season, which I hope she does.
Another good character development moment in this episode was Darlene's decision in helping the FBI, by gaining Intel from Elliot (good to see DiPietro again) about Stage 2. It was also good to see the development between Elliot's and Darlene's relationship, by Elliot wanting Darlene to stay with him as he was lonely and reminising about Kevin McAllister, the snowman they built when they were kids, but sadly was ruined when Mr. Robot shows up and freaks out Darlene.
Joanna's death was probably the big shocker of the episode. I wasn't expecting Joanna to die so unexpectedly, being shot to death, in the car with her baby, especially with it happening so early in the season. I wonder what Tyrell's reaction to this will be when he finds out.
The confrontation scene between Philip and Whiterose was an intense battle, both actors did a great job, gave me a Littlefinger/Varys vibe. What surprised me was Whiterose's plan afterwards that they'll unleash Stage 2 on the day of the UN vote, meaning that Stage 2 has a completely different purpose then we thought.
The ending of the episode had me shocked when DiPietro received an email code from Elliot that turned out was for the FBI as well as Elliot (or Mr. Robot) showing up on Darlene's doorstep, leaving me in suspense and even more excited for next week.
